They are fleeing for their lives. The cartels kill people randomly, just to show their strength. They threaten to kill people if they don’t join their organization.

Drug users in America spend $380 billion on cocaine, heroin, opium, mescaline, and other illegal drugs.
So, who benefits from continuing to make those drugs illegal in America?
- The banks that launder the illegal money. Washing dirty money and regurgitating clean money ears the banks OVER 150 billion dollars a year.
- The ATF which has 5,101 employees and an annual budget of $1.274 billion employees busy with continuing work
- The DEA, which keeps 101,000 employees busy with continuing work. 2019 budget request for DEA totals $421 million,

The budget of CBP, which includes both the Border Patrol and operations at ports of entry, has also nearly tripled, rising from $5.9 billion in FY 2003 to a high of $17.7 billion budget in 2022.
- The private prisons need bodies to fill all those beds and make absorbent profits. The private prisons make 80 billion dollars a yea, and 90% of those beds are filled Latino people who are victims of the drug wars where for some, dealing drugs on a small scale is the only way to keep from starving to death.
That is why these agencies scream every time someone calls out for drug reform. They exaggerate the number of killings, the amounts of cocaine seized, the number of guns confiscated, the number of bad buys killed, all to keep their jobs.
So, you see with so many jobs at stake, there is no way drugs will ever be made legal.
In additional, the drugs coming from Mexico are not pure. They are laced with chemicals, some of which are poisonous or make the base drug provide a stronger reaction.
100,000 people a year die in Mexico each year from the cartel wars. That does not include the number missing which is over 60,000 since 2010.
The United States has dumped billions of dollars into Central American security forces in recent years in the name of a militarized war on drugs. The approach, now widely regarded as a failure, has increased corruption, deteriorated human rights and exacerbated conditions that led to mass migration, with nothing to show in terms of the stated goals of curbing trafficking.
