Take your pick. For the Republicans, it will be Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis, a man who, ever since his days as a Congressman, fought to cut Social Security and Medicare and end the Affordable Care Act which now covers 35 million Americans. He spearheaded a GOP effort to shut down the government to force repeal of the ACA. In his 2011 book, he condemned “government mandated wealth redistribution as despotism.
In 2017 he voted for a massive tax cut for corporations, high earners and wealthy heirs.
He is banning and burning books just Hitler did in 1934. He is forcing teachers to teach only what he approves of which means no Black history, not LGTB subjects.
He does not believe there is discrimination against Blacks. He doesn’t believe in police brutality. He doesn’t believe we need stricter gun laws.
He should be muzzled like a rabid dog and placed in the Pillory where people can cast stones (and aspersions) upon him.
Or, you might want to consider Wes Moore, the newly elected Black Maryland governor. A man who grew up in the ghetto and was subjected to the influence and fear and threat of gangs and drugs but rose himself up, with the help of a supportive family, to graduate Phi Beta Kappa from Johns Hopkins University, then won a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford. He is a decorated Army Combat veteran, a best-selling author of inspirational memoirs, a former Wall Street banker, a small business owner and a non-profit CEO.
It’s been said of him that “Wes lifts people up from their cynicism into their optimism and gives them a sense of what is possible.”
We must get Wes to run in 2024. He will only have 2 years of governorship under his belt, but Obama only had 2 years of senatorship when he ran.
This may be America’s last chance to overcome the mentality and insanity of Republicans who support guns, big business and tax cuts for the wealthy, control what is taught in schools and support Fascists like Victor Orban of Hungary who was the keynote speaker at a Republican Conservative Caucus.
Spread the word, write to your congressmen and senators. Let’s all get behind Wes and change the narrative from negative to positive.
