COMPARISON OF INFRASTRUCTURE BETWEEN CHINA AND THE UNITED STATES

Rail:

United States has only one high-speed rail line that meets international standards: Acela Express (Northeast Corridor): Approximately 457 miles (735 km). China has the world’s largest high-speed rail network by far:  about 23,550 miles (37,900 km) of high-speed rail lines.

Airport Construction:

China:

Between 2015 and 2020, China built or expanded 43 airports. In its 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), China announced plans to build 10 new international airports. Beijing Daxing International Airport, opened in 2019, is one of the world’s largest airports. Chengdu Tianfu International Airport opened in 2021. Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport also opened in 2021. By 2035, China aims to have 400 airports in total (up from about 241 in 2020). Not all of these will be international, but many will have international capabilities. The rate of construction for airports capable of international operations is to 2-3 per year. China plans to invest about 1.5 trillion yuan ($231.8 billion) in civil aviation during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).

United States:  the newest international airport is DIA (Denver) which is (more than) 30 years old)

The ASCE estimates that the United States needs to invest $2.59 trillion over the next 10 years to bring its infrastructure to a state of good repair. Overall assessment: the United States is officially a third world country.

Total Road Network:

As of 2020, China’s total road network extended to approximately 5.2 million kilometers (3.23 million miles).  Expressway Network: China has the world’s largest expressway system. As of 2020, China had about 161,000 kilometers (100,000 miles) of expressways.

America has 778,960 interstate miles, but it is in disrepair.

The result of this is that the United States now qualifies as a third world county.
