During its later stages, capitalism transforms into a form of neoliberal fascism. Here, the inherent suffering caused by capitalism through the dismantling of the welfare state, safety nets, and the exacerbation of inequality merges with displays of racism, racial cleansing, hyper-masculinity, ultra-nationalism, militarism, the scape-goating of vulnerable populations, and the politics of disposability. Among the financial, political, and corporate elite, cruelty and hatred become revered characteristics. Consequently, we witness not only a criminogenic political and economic system but also a state of barbarism that reflects a death-oriented psychosis in political leaders like Trump and Bolsonaro. The Trump administration’s corruption, unethical practices, and criminal behaviors by Trump himself, his inner circle, and other Republicans serve as clear examples of this.
